2019 Los Olivos District Estate Grenache

Jeb Dunnuck

93 Points

A bit lighter in color than past vintages of this wine, the 2019 Estate Grenache does not lack in aroma, flavor, or structure. The cooler vintage in 2019 highlights more of the spice element in Grenache, with aromas and flavors of white pepper, bakers spice, pomegranate, strawberry, and a hint of vanilla. Textured and round, the 2019 has good acidity that carries the flavors on a very long finish. A wonderfully elegant vintage of this powerful wine, the 2019 Estate Grenache will age nicely over the next 12-15 years.

Classic Beckmen kirsch, flowers, white pepper, and brambly herbs notes emerge from the 2019 Grenache Estate, and it’s medium to full-bodied, has a round, sexy, layered texture, supple tannins, and a great finish. It’s already hard to resist, yet it’s going to cruise for 7 – 8 years in cold cellars.

From vines that are more than 20 years old, this estate bottling begins with lavish tones of baked strawberry, rose hips and hibiscus tea on the rich nose. The hefty palate is loaded with red-currant jam and pomegranate-syrup flavors, cut by a orange-rind tension.
