2022 Summer Wine Release

We are releas­ing five new wines to our win­ery mem­bers this quar­ter, three of which are pro­duced in extreme­ly lim­it­ed quan­ti­ties and are only avail­able direct­ly from our Los Olivos win­ery. Two of the new wines are usu­al­ly pro­duced in larg­er quan­ti­ties and is avail­able in dis­tri­b­u­tion across the country. 

The five wines are first shared exclu­sive­ly with our mem­bers and are then made avail­able to the gen­er­al pub­lic the fol­low­ing quar­ter. These excep­tion­al, small pro­duc­tion wines often sell out quick­ly, so join­ing will ensure your allotment. 

These are the five wines we released to our mem­bers in Sep­tem­ber 2022: 

2021 Purisima Mountain Vineyard Grenache Blanc 

A very cool vin­tage brought a dif­fer­ent style of Grenache Blanc in 2021. Laser sharp and focused, the 21 is high­light­ed by green apple, lime, lychee, and pep­pery aro­mas and fla­vors. Medi­um-bod­ied with great mouth­feel, the acid takes the focus on the back end of the wine, fin­ish­ing long and juicy. The wine is drink­ing beau­ti­ful­ly now and will drink nice­ly for the next 3 – 5 years.

2021 Santa Ynez Valley Grenache

A cool vin­tage brought a seri­ous, com­plex vin­tage of the SYV Grenache. Intrigu­ing fla­vors of rasp­ber­ry, cher­ry, pome­gran­ate, white pep­per, and gar­rigue are con­cen­trat­ed and intense. The wine is bold and round in the mouth with some seri­ous tan­nins that struc­ture the wine nice­ly and help car­ry the fla­vors on the long fin­ish. This is a very impres­sive vin­tage of the SYV Grenache that should be enjoyed over the next decade.

2020 Barrel Select Cuvee 

Anoth­er strong vin­tage of this reserve wine with sim­i­lar pro­por­tions to the 2019 vin­tage, this Syrah-dom­i­nat­ed blend with Mourve­dre and Grenache shows great depth and rich­ness from the hot vin­tage. Dark Syrah fruit and spices dom­i­nate the aro­mas, while the Mourve­dre and Grenache add ener­gy and com­plex­i­ty to the fla­vor pro­file that shows dark fruits, choco­late, pep­per, vio­let, and roast­ed herbs. Broad and long on the palate, the 2020 should drink great for the next 15+ years.

2020 Purisima Mountain Vineyard Syrah Clone #1

The very warm weath­er dur­ing the 2020 sea­son brought a ripe vin­tage of the Clone 1. Plant­ed in some deep clay and lime­stone, which helped off­set the heat and drought, this block was one of the high­lights of the vin­tage, deliv­er­ing an out­stand­ing Syrah Clone 1. Smoke, game, black­ber­ry, plum, and choco­late high­light the aro­mas and fla­vors of this vin­tage, show­ing nice lift (even in this hot vin­tage), round, smooth tex­ture, and a long fin­ish with very fine tan­nins. Drink this vin­tage now and over the next 15 years.

2020 EXP Syrah Rosé

Made from some old­er Syrah vines at the win­ery estate, this wine is the per­fect rosé to drink at the end of the sum­mer head­ing into the fall. Dark­er and rich­er than our Grenache Rose, this fun wine has good depth and rich­ness with a nice flo­ral edge to the cher­ry, lime, and pep­pery fla­vors and aro­mas. Drink this wine now and over the next 2 – 3 years.
