December 2025 Release

The 2023 PMV Block Six Syrah will be billed and released starting December 1, 2024.

2023 Purisima Mountain Vineyard Block Six Syrah

100% Biodynamic certified Syrah (Ballard Canyon AVA)

Block Six was the first section of Purisima Mountain Vineyard to be farmed Biodynamically, a process that started in 2002. Certified like the rest of the vineyard in 2009 by Demeter, Block Six is the highest block on Purisima and is planted in soils with significant deposits of chalky limestone. This combination of elevation and soil contributes to the Block Six being our finest Syrah offering from our vineyards since its first bottling in 2003. Several vintages ago we altered the clonal selection for blending this wine wanting to incorporate more of the 174 clone, a Hermitage selection. This change, although subtle, has really pushed the quality of the aromas and flavors of this wine to another level, bringing added complexity, depth and structure to the finished wines.

Winemaker Description: Focused and intense, the 2023 Block Six is dense, concentrated and built for the cellar. Huge high-toned aromas of dark currant, black pepper, wildflowers, red plum and limestone scream Block Six. The mouth is loaded with more plum, cassis, chocolate, pepper and violet flavors that are layered and framed by impeccable structure that carry the flavors through the long finish. Reminiscent of 2021, 2019 and going way back to the 2005 vintage, this wine should be put away for a year or two and then enjoyed over the next 15+ years or more. One of the finest Block Six wines we have produced.

January 2026 Releases

The 2023 TLB Red Wine and 2023 Purisima Red Wine will be billed and released in the beginning of January 2026.

2023 TLB

85% Cabernet Sauvignon, 15% Syrah (Los Olivos District AVA)

The 2023 is the 17th vintage of our beloved TLB. The core of the wine is a field blend of the best Cabernet and Syrah grown on the Thomas and Judith Beckmen Estate Vineyard. It combines the best of our Cabernet Sauvignon fruit with the juicy mouthfeel of Syrah. Named for our founder, Thomas Lawrence Beckmen, this field blend is a wine he dreamed of making when he started the winery. It is named in his honor and is a tribute to his continuous hard work and dedication to crafting world class wines.

Winemaker Description: The 2023 TLB is magic! The Cabernet is up front on the wine with an array of aromas showing violet, graphite, earthy loam, black currant, cassis and a touch of blue fruit, which shows up on cooler vintages. The mouth is broad and round with the Syrah adding an element of lift and energy, adding a juicy edge to the wine. Black and blue fruits, spring wildflowers, spice, mocha and violet flavors are interwoven throughout the wine where some fine tannins and ample acidity frame the bold flavors on the long finish. It does show beautifully today but age will certainly benefit this wine which should evolve incredibly over the next 20+ years.

2023 Purisima Red Wine

100% Biodynamic certified Syrah (Ballard Canyon AVA)

Purisima Red Wine is our benchmark wine that is only produced from our finest vintages. Over the last decade, we have made eight vintages of this wine including this 2023 release. Since 2016, the Purisima Red Wine has been 100% Syrah. Prior to that the wine was a blend of Grenache and Syrah. The change was our admission that Syrah was the finest grape from Purisima, consistently, year after year. For this vintage we chose a neutral barrel blend of Block Six and OWN, which highlight the amazing fruit and complexity of this great vintage. Bottled unfined and unfiltered, the 2023 is a blockbuster wine for an incredible vintage.

Winemaker Description: 2023 was a classic cool climate vintage for Purisima Mountain. The year got off to a late start and ended later than normal with the bulk of our best Syrah being harvested 2-3 weeks later than normal. The harvest conditions were amazing – actually, the whole season was outstanding – and if you had the patience to wait long enough to get everything ripe you were rewarded like few vintages can reward. Exotic and expressive the 2023 Purisima Red Wine shows black fruits, blue fruits, wildflowers, limestone, pepper and iron aromas and flavors. The mouth is broad and round, filling every corner with its deep expressive flavors. The finish is rich and long where the fine tannins and beautiful acidity carry the deep fruit and spice flavors that linger for minutes. Lay this down for 1-2 years, as is the case for most of the 2023 vintage Syrah wines, and you will be rewarded. The wine will easily age for the next 15-20 years.

March 2026 Release

The 2023 Thomas and Judith Beckmen Vineyard Cabernet Sauvignon will be billed and released in the beginning of March 2026.

2023 Thomas and Judith Beckmen Vineyard Cabernet Sauvignon

100% Cabernet Sauvignon (Los Olivos District AVA)

This is only the third bottling of the Thomas and Judith Beckmen Vineyard Cabernet Sauvignon. We started bottling this wine as a celebration to our founders Tom and Judy Beckmen, to celebrate their vision and passion for growing and producing great wines. The wine is a selection of two barrels from the single finest lot of our 2023 Cabernet Sauvignon vintage; we isolated the second pick of Block 4 as a standout just after harvest, identifying this selection early on. These two barrels have been aging in our cellars, unmoved and untouched for the past two years and will be bottled in December 2025, unfined and unfiltered.

Winemaker Description: Dark and intense, the 2023 T and J Cabernet Sauvignon is epic! Roasted espresso, mocha, blackberry, earth, violet and pencil shavings lead the way and soar out of the glass. In the mouth the wine is full bodied and full flavored, round and seamless, with plush tannins that carry the focused and intense flavors of black fruits and mocha across the long finish, where the tannins firm up a bit but are coated with layers of fruit and flavor. This is a profound Cabernet Sauvignon wine from the T and J Estate Vineyard that should be cellared for a couple of years and then enjoyed over the next 20+ years or more. This is the finest Cabernet Sauvignon that we have ever produced and a real tribute to our owners and founders Tom and Judy Beckmen.

April 2026 Releases

The 2024 Purisima Mountain Vineyard Syrah Clone #1 and 2024 Purisima Mountain Vineyard Block Eight Grenache will be billed and released in the beginning of April 2026.

2024 Purisima Mountain Vineyard Syrah Clone #1

100% Biodynamic certified Syrah (Ballard Canyon AVA)

Our selection of Clone #1 was sourced from vines planted in 1868 at Best’s Vineyard in Victoria, Australia. Although we grow eight different clones of Syrah at Purisima Mountain Vineyard, this clone is our flagship single-clone bottling. Simply put, when it comes to Syrah, Clone #1 is a rock star! The grapes for our Clone #1 Syrah are grown on a very steep, limestone-laden hillside, featuring two different rootstocks: 110r and 5c. In the winery, we tailor the winemaking to accentuate what makes this clone special: its old-world aromatic profile.

Winemaker Description: From a warmer vintage, the 2024 Clone 1 Syrah is incredibly delicious. It has been delicious through every step, from grape, through fermentation and into barrel. A very upfront and approachable wine, the rich aromas and flavors of black fruit, game, pepper, smoke, chocolate and spice are generous. Round and edgeless in the mouth, the wine has beautifully ripe tannins and balanced acidity. It reminds us of some other earlier drinking vintages of the Clone 1 like 2006 and 2008, which are both drinking really well today. This vintage will be ready to drink upon release and should be at its peak for the next 15-20 years.

2024 Purisima Mountain Vineyard Block Eight Grenache

100% Biodynamic certified Grenache (Ballard Canyon AVA)

Block Eight is a special Grenache block that was planted in 2005. It features our own Beckmen Grenache selection, cultivated using cuttings from our finest grapevines. This proprietary selection is own-rooted and head-trained in the classic gobulet (“cup”) style of Châteauneuf-du-Pape. Grown in soils similar to our Purisima Mountain Vineyard Grenache, this block produces small clusters, with small, intense berries. Back in the Futures Pre-Sale again for the second year in a row!

Winemaker Description: It is great to see this block preforming so well after a few difficult years! The 2024 Block Eight Grenache is a step up in quality from the delicious 2023 vintage; 2024 will be remembered as another epic vintage for our Grenache wines, as the vines soaked up all the rain in the winter and spring and all the heat throughout the growing season. The 2024 sings with complex aromas and flavors of raspberry, strawberry, pepper, violets, blood orange and clay. The presence of the clay surrounds and supports the rich, full-bodied flavors of this wine, stretching the flavors on the bold finish. This wine will drink well upon release and age beautifully for the next 12-15+ years.
