Sangiovese Returns to our Portfolio After 25 Years

After 25 years, we are thrilled to bring San­giovese back into our port­fo­lio with the very lim­it­ed release of the 2018 San­ta Ynez Val­ley San­giovese. Only 225 cas­es were pro­duced, and since we last bot­tled this wine back in 1996, you’ll have to act fast to enjoy this wine.

San­giovese has been grown in the San­ta Ynez Val­ley for decades and has found real suc­cess in a few select hill­side vine­yards locat­ed between Bal­lard Canyon and Los Olivos Dis­trict. Our 2018 SYV San­giovese was sourced from Mira Lagu­na Vine­yard, locat­ed just above the town of Bal­lard above Alamo Pin­ta­do Road. Mira Lagu­na Vine­yard has been organ­i­cal­ly farmed since its incep­tion in 1998, and we are thrilled to work with their out­stand­ing fruit. Blend­ed with 20% Caber­net Sauvi­gnon from the Thomas and Judith Beck­men Estate Vine­yard, the 2018 SYV San­giovese is both com­plex and delicious.

Tasting Notes

Dried herbs, cher­ry, anise, and hints of tobac­co high­light the com­plex aro­mas of this wine. The mouth is smooth, round, and ready to drink now with fla­vors of sweet plums, cher­ry, coco, vanil­la, and licorice that are framed by bal­anced acid­i­ty and fine tan­nins. The wine has great length on the fin­ish where the fla­vors con­tin­ue to linger. The wine is drink­ing great now and will con­tin­ue to age well for the next decade.
