2019 Winter Wine Releases

We release four new wines every a quar­ter. The wines are first shared with our Wine Club mem­bers, and then avail­able to the gen­er­al pub­lic the fol­low­ing quar­ter. Shar­ing our wines for the first time after the years of hard work and ded­i­ca­tion is excit­ing, and we hope you enjoy drink­ing them as much as we enjoyed craft­ing them! These are the four wines we released in Feb­ru­ary 2019:

2017 Purisima Mountain Vineyard Chardonnay

Bright, live­ly, and loaded with apple, spices, min­er­al, and cit­rus aro­mas and fla­vors; the 2017 vin­tage is a tremen­dous suc­cess for our Chardon­nay pro­gram. Com­ing from a milder vin­tage, the wine has stun­ning pre­ci­sion, depth, a laser sharp focus of fruit, and a mouth­feel that we only hoped to achieve when we graft­ed this 3.76 acre block sev­en years ago. Craft­ed from 100% cer­ti­fied Bio­dy­nam­ic Chardon­nay grapes.

2017 Cuvee le Bec

Com­plex, nuanced, and lay­ered, this is a won­der­ful 20th anniver­sary release of the Cuvee le Bec. More Syrah heavy in this vin­tage, the wine shows off lay­ered fruit across the black, blue, and red fruit spec­trum, with plen­ty of pep­per and spice plus an addi­tion­al com­plex­i­ty of vio­lets and licorice. Tremen­dous mouth­feel and great bal­anc­ing acid­i­ty round out this beau­ti­ful vin­tage of Cuvee le Bec. Craft­ed with a blend of 47% Syrah (Purisi­ma Moun­tain Vine­yard), 35% Grenache (Purisi­ma and Win­ery Estate Vine­yards), 11% Mourve­dre (Purisi­ma Moun­tain Vine­yard), and 7% Counoise (Purisi­ma Moun­tain Vineyard).

2017 PMV Grenache Block Eight

A milder grow­ing sea­son has deliv­ered a Block Eight Grenache that is very rem­i­nis­cent of the 2015 vin­tage. Bright and com­plex, the wine has great depth and puri­ty of fla­vor and aro­ma. Filled with white pep­per, nut­meg, clove, and, of course, plen­ty of rasp­ber­ry and straw­ber­ry fruit, the 2017 Block Eight is very lift­ed and pli­ant across the palate, with a long fin­ish and fine-grained tan­nins. This wine will ben­e­fit from a lit­tle addi­tion­al cel­lar­ing for 6 – 9 months and will drink beau­ti­ful­ly for the next 10 – 12 years. Craft­ed from 100% cer­ti­fied Bio­dy­nam­ic Grenache grapes.

2017 Purisima Mountain Vineyard Clone #383 Syrah

Usu­al­ly reserved for the Block Six Syrah bot­tling, Clone #383 is a unique look at this spe­cial area of Purisi­ma Moun­tain Vine­yard. Show­ing more pep­per, earth, and game than our Block Six or Purisi­ma Moun­tain Syrah, the #383 is deep and rich yet very ele­gant. This clone always has very good acid­i­ty which keeps the wine fresh and live­ly, car­ry­ing the com­plex fla­vors through a very long fin­ish. Drink­ing fan­tas­tic now, the wine should age well for the next 15+ years. Craft­ed from 100% cer­ti­fied Bio­dy­nam­ic Syrah grapes.
