2022 Spring Wine Release

We are releas­ing five new wines to our win­ery mem­bers this quar­ter, three of which are pro­duced in extreme­ly lim­it­ed quan­ti­ties and are only avail­able direct­ly from our Los Olivos win­ery. Two of the new wines is usu­al­ly pro­duced in larg­er quan­ti­ties and is avail­able in dis­tri­b­u­tion across the country. 

The five wines are first shared exclu­sive­ly with our mem­bers and are then made avail­able to the gen­er­al pub­lic the fol­low­ing quar­ter. These excep­tion­al, small pro­duc­tion wines often sell out quick­ly, so join­ing will ensure your allotment. 

These are the five wines we released to our mem­bers in May 2022: 

2021 Santa Ynez Valley Sauvignon Blanc

Intense and lift­ed aro­mas of lemon-lime, grape­fruit, pas­sion­fruit, and green apple high­light the 2021 SYV Sauvi­gnon Blanc. The cool con­di­tions dur­ing the grow­ing sea­son in 2021 cre­at­ed an ener­getic wine with bright, zip­py acid­i­ty. Expres­sive can­died lemon, pink grape­fruit, and pas­sion­fruit fla­vors lead to a chalky min­er­al fin­ish. This is one of our favorite releas­es of this wine in recent mem­o­ry. It should be con­sumed over the next 5 – 7 years.

2020 Purisima Mountain Vineyard Syrah

Clas­sic PMV Syrah aro­mas and fla­vors of black fruits, choco­late, game, pep­per, and smoke are ripe and intense in the 2020 wine. Very ripe fine tan­nins frame the bold fla­vors and round­ed tex­ture. Some­how through all the heat, our fruit retained beau­ti­ful acid­i­ty which bal­ances out the bold and rich fla­vors cre­at­ing an awe­some vin­tage of Purisi­ma Moun­tain Vine­yard Syrah with clas­sic tex­ture and struc­ture. Drink­ing great now, the wine will age grace­ful­ly for the next 12 – 15+ years.

2020 Purisima Mountain Vineyard Syrah OWN

PMV Syrah made from our 12 – 15-year-old own-root­ed vines, plant­ed on no root­stock, just Syrah root­ed in place with­in the blocks. The wine is seri­ous, dark, rich, lay­ered, and savory with black fruits, pep­per, game, roast­ed espres­so, and choco­late fla­vors and aro­mas that are bold and intense. This wine has a strong tan­nic back­bone that pro­vides ample struc­ture for the weighty fla­vors and car­ries them on the incred­i­bly long fin­ish. The inau­gur­al release of this Syrah, the 2020 OWN is epic. Still in its youth (decant­i­ng rec­om­mend­ed in the short term), the wine will age beau­ti­ful­ly for the next 18 – 20 years.

2020 Purisima Mountain Vineyard Grenache

A WOW vin­tage of this wine that harkens back to some of the great­est ever (2001, 2003, 2008, 2012). The 2020 PMV Grenache is explo­sive, rich, tex­tur­al with mas­sive struc­ture (tan­nins and acid) and amaz­ing poten­tial for long term age­ing. Bright yet jam­my aro­mas and fla­vors of rasp­ber­ry, kirsch, pome­gran­ate, and cher­ry build a lay­ered palate of fruit with roast­ed herbs, min­er­al and, white pep­per notes in the back­ground adding even more depth and com­plex­i­ty. This wine is stun­ning and will go down as one of the finest we have ever bot­tled. Youth­ful right now (decant­i­ng is sug­gest­ed in the short term), the wine will age effort­less­ly for the next 20+ years.

2020 EXP Purisima Mountain Vineyard Grenache 

A unique blend of Block Three Grenache from Purisi­ma, the 2020 EXP is loaded with fruit and spice fla­vors and aro­mas. Grenache is the high­light of the vin­tage, and it shows in this spe­cial bot­tling. Rich and bold with silky tex­ture, the EXP Grenache is won­der­ful­ly com­plex and shows just how spe­cial 2020 is for the vari­ety. Drink this now and over the next decade.
