2022 Block Six Syrah Purisima Mountain Vineyard
Block Six was the first section of Purisima Mountain Vineyard to be farmed biodynamically starting in 2002 and is the highest elevation block in the vineyard featuring significant deposits of chalky limestone. These factors contribute to a wine that has consistently been our finest Syrah bottling.
A tricky vintage in Block Six where the heat spike in early September did a little damage to some of the fruit, we did numerous passes in the vineyard and strict selection in the winery to only process the finest clusters out of the block for this wine. Following up a legendary vintage (2021 Block Six) can be difficult, but we are thrilled about the incredible quality of the 2022 vintage. Wood smoke, black pepper, and earthy complexities emerge from the glass along with blackberry, boysenberry, plum and mocha flavors and aromas. The wine has great concentration, big supple tannins, outstanding texture and terrific length, a classic release of Block Six Syrah. Drinking great today, the wine will age beautifully for the next 15-20 years.
