2022 Grenache Purisima Mountain Vineyard

Hot and dry conditions in 2022 were ideal for Grenache. The old vines on Purisima delivered a beautiful but small crop of Grenache fruit, giving us the foundation for a terrific vintage of this wine. Big, bold flavors and aromas of black raspberry, grenadine, strawberry, black cherry, holiday spices and roasted herbs weave throughout the senses in this awesome release of PMV Grenache. Round and supple in texture, the wine has good acidity, and fine tannins support the rich fruit and spice flavors of this vintage finishing long. The wine is showing great today and will continue to age beautifully for the next 12-15 years.

From the Purisima Mountain Vineyard and made from 100% Grenache with 33% whole clusters and raised in stainless steel tanks, the 2022 Grenache Purisima Mountain Vineyard delivers candied cherries, strawberries, peppery herbs, and flowery, incense-like notes. It’s medium-bodied, has a pure, layered, polished mouthfeel, ripe tannins, and a great finish. It reminds me of a great Cairanne with its obvious minerality and fresher, focused style, which will evolve beautifully over the coming decade. Drink 2025 – 2035.
